In a nutshell:
Socrates and Plato discuss speech vs text.
(Spoken word vs written word as the ancients say.)

Socrates says if we write everything down, we'll become forgetful and eventually lose our ability to learn. Human memory will suffer.
Well, humans learned to write since then.
And today, in its digital form spoken word became written. Humans started to text, email, chat... Wait for words to drop... And of course, in time based media text became kinetic, adopting speech like qualities.
